The Story of National Fleet Management + Heavy Duty Truck Supply

National Fleet Management (NFM) was founded in 2009 with a clear purpose — to bring dealership-level professionalism, integrity, and technical skill to the heavy-duty aftermarket. Founder Bill Black, a Marine Corps veteran raised in his family's welding and repair shop in Buffalo, NY, built the compan on faith, hard work, and the belief that doing the right thing — even when it's hard — always pays off.

What began with a single truck and a dream has grown into a multi-location organization serving fleets across North Carolina and beyond. Over the years, NFM expanded from repairs and maintenance into three complementary divisions — service, parts, and truck sales — all designed to work together to deliver speed, quality, and value for customers.

In 2019, Heavy Duty Truck Supply (HDTS) was launched to solve one of the industry's biggest challenges: parts availability and pricing. By controlling its own supply chain, NFM could move faster, reduce costs, and deliver greater consistency to every customer.

The natural next step was to close the loop — offering customers high-quality, reconditioned used trucks backed by NFM's own technicians, parts, and processes. Today, NFM's Used Truck Division operated as a full-service dealership, providing professionally serviced, road-ready trucks that carry the same integrity and attention to detail the company is known for. From buying and selling to reconditioning and fleet consulting, the dealership is poised to become a key growth driver in NFM's long-term strategy — a one-stop solution for customers who want to purchase, maintain, and keep their equipment running at peak performance.

Together, NFM, HDTS, and the Used Truck Division form a vertically integrated platform that delivers reliability, quality, and trust — the foundation of the company's vision to scale to $100 million in revenue by 2028 and ultimately reached $1 billion in enterprise value.
